Important information by Emarsys: The current feature will be switched off in Q1 2022 and you will then be migrated from Emarsys to the new solution. Please contact your Emarsys contact person to get detailed information.

If you do not yet have access to the personalization service, please contact your Emarsys Success Manager. This feature is currently only available for customers with VCE and Relational Data.

In order to benefit from the 1:1 image personalization, you have to activate the personalization service. With the help of this feature, customer data (images, texts or other customization fields) are transferred from Emarsys to optilyz using a token / code using the "Personalization Service".

The tokens / codes required for data mapping must first be generated in order to then be assigned to the individualization fields of your direct mailing visual.

We explain how this works in the following guide.

CONTENT:

1. Create a "token" in Emarsys

In Emarsys: Open the Campaigns tab in the menu and then the Personalization sub-item. Here you will find what Emarsys calls “tokens”.

In the personalization overview (Fig. 1) you will find tokens that have already been created or you can create new tokens.

Fig. 1

IMPORTANT A token contains the personalization data that you want to assign to your mailing. That means, if you want to create e.g. an image and a text for 3 different personalizations, then you have to create 6 (3 visuals & 3 texts) different tokens.

Create a new personalization by clicking on the “Create Token” button in the upper right corner or edit an existing one. A new window will open in which you can now select the Predict product recommendation (Fig. 2).

Fig. 2

2. Arrangement and representation in Predict - product recommendation

After you have created a new token, your browser will redirect you to a new window (Fig.3). In this you can now define the so-called setup and the display of your personalization:

  1. Name of personalization
  2. Category - e.g. which campaign is it e.g. sale, self-mailer, customer activation, etc.
  3. Predict code (time zone, logic, etc.)
  4. Field - what should be shown in the visual (e.g. photo, title, text ...)
  5. Index number - which personalization field should the code be assigned to

Fig .3

3. Define customization field

An important setting in the setup is the field. Here you have to determine which data type should appear in your personalization - a photo, a text, prices or the like ... Predict will later create a code based on your setting. This could e.g. look like this:

{{ product. recommendation|”, individualisation”|[1]|image }}

The code will later be transferred to optilyz in order to fill in the customization fields.

Possible data types:

  • Image = a photo should be added
  • Title = You give something a heading or a title
  • Price = a price is placed

In the code it would look like this:

  1. {{ product. recommendation|”, individualisation”|[1]|image }}

  2. {{ product. recommendation|”, individualisation”|[1]|title }}

  3. {{ product. recommendation|”, individualisation”|[1]|price }}

The example of a customer shows the different personalization fields, here on an A4 cover letter:

4. The meaning of the index number

The display is located directly next to the setup. Here you have to determine the index number, this is necessary if several elements of one type (image, text etc.) are to be inserted and is part of the code.

In the following customer example you can see, for example, that the customer would like to make 4 personalizations with 4 data fields each. So the customer must use the index number to specify which data is intended for the first, second, third or fourth personalization.

Defined by the index number, a specific personalization can be indicated in your visual:

Index number 1 = can be assigned to the first personalization, which consists, for example, of image, text, price and article number and is set in place of individualization 1-4. Index number 2 is the second personalization: image, text, price, article number for the second product, etc.

The code for the images of product 1, 2 and 3 would then look like this:

  1. {{ product. recommendation|”, individualisation”|[1]|image }}

  2. {{ product. recommendation|”, individualisation”|[2]|image }}

  3. {{ product. recommendation|”, individualisation”|[3]|image }}

5. Copy the data transfer code from Emarsys to optilyz

After you have defined everything, a code should now appear below in the window (Fig.4).

Example: {{ product. recommendation|”, individualisation”|[1]|image }}

You need this for the optilyz platform. Copy the code (ctrl + c). Then save the token in order not to have any data loss or to use the token again for personalization at a later date.

6. Data Mapping in optilyz

Now navigate to the optilyz direct mailing platform. You can now create your new campaign here.

Call up “Content Personalization” in the data mapping of the customization fields (Fig.5). Paste the copied code into the pop-up window - “Enter personalization token” (Fig.6).

Attention: Each individualization must be assigned its own code.

Choose a suitable procedure - we recommend that you start with product A and then list the individual customization fields below. This is followed by product B and continuously.

  • Example 1: All customization fields of the same personalization one after the other

Individualisation 1 = {{ product. recommendation|”, individualisation”|[1]|image }}

Individualisation 2 = {{ product. recommendation|”,individualisation”|[2]|image }}

Individualisation 3 = {{ product. recommendation|”,individualisation”|[3]|image }}

Individualisation 4 = {{ product. recommendation|”, individualisation”|[1]|title }}

Individualisation 5 = {{ product. recommendation|”,individualisation”|[2]|title }}

Individualisation 6 = {{ product. recommendation|”,individualisation”|[3]|title }}

Individualisation 7 = ….

Or you can create all images first, then all prices, titles, comments, etc. to avoid chaos.

  • Example 2: Each personalization one after the other

{{ product. recommendation|”, individualisation”|[1]|titel }}

{{ product. recommendation|”, individualisation”|[1]|image }}

{{ product. recommendation|”, individualisation”|[1]|price }}

{{ product. recommendation|”, individualisation|[2]|titel }}

{{ product. recommendation|”, individualisation”|[2]|image }}

{{ product. recommendation|”, individualisation”|[2]|price }}

….

After you have booked the campaign, optilyz will send you a test PDF on which you can check the positioning of your customization fields.
